Dr. Marian Cotnam
Optometrist

Dr. Marian Cotnam joined the practice in 1989 after completing her Doctor of Optometry degree, with honours, from the University of Waterloo. She was hired to cover another doctor’s maternity leave and never left!

In addition to full-time regular practice, Dr. Cotnam serves as an assessor for the Quality Assurance Peer Review Program with the College of Optometrists of Ontario.  She is also a Clinical Supervisor for optometry interns from the University of Waterloo.

Outside the office, Dr. Cotnam enjoys gardening, hiking and spending time with her husband, three children and two dogs.

Dr. Rima Mammo
Optometrist

Dr. Mammo joined the Bramalea Optometric team in 2012 after graduating with honours from the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo.

Dr. Mammo worked alongside Optometrists and Ophthalmologists during her ocular disease internship at John Dingell Veteran Hospital in downtown Detroit, MI. She has a special interest in ocular disease and dry eye.

Dr. Mammo enjoys traveling, soccer and spending time with her husband and three children: Emma, Julian and Mila.

Dr. Jennifer Bergie
Optometrist

Dr. Jennifer Bergie joined the Bramalea Optometric Clinic in 2021. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.

Dr. Bergie is excited to return home to Brampton and provide optometric care to the community.

In her free time, you can find Dr. Bergie playing softball, skiing, hiking with her dogs and cheering on the Raptors and Blue Jays.

Dr. Melissa De Luca

Dr. Melissa De Luca earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with Dean’s Honors from the University of Waterloo. Dr. De Luca is dedicated to delivering exceptional eye care and enhancing the ocular health of her patients.

Throughout her training, Dr. De Luca undertook an ocular disease rotation in Dauphin, Manitoba, focusing on managing ocular diseases, emergency eye care and common refractive conditions. She has gained extensive experience treating intricate conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and uveitis, among others. She has a special interest in ocular disease management and dry eye treatment.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. De Luca finds enjoyment in reading, travelling, practicing yoga, and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. Dhruvi Patel
Optometrist

Dr. Dhruvi Patel graduated with distinction from the University of Waterloo in 2024, earning her Doctor of Optometry degree. During her final year of training, she completed clinical rotations in both Brantford, Ontario, and Calgary, Alberta, gaining valuable experience providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages.

Dr. Patel’s clinical interests center on primary care optometry. She is committed to delivering evidence-based, personalized care and takes pride in dedicating time to patient education, ensuring individuals feel informed and confident in their ocular health.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Patel enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends or unwinding by binge-watching a good TV show.
